Travel Advisory: Accommodations within walking distance of the university tend to be heavily booked, so please make your reservations as early as possible. Mention that you are attending a conference at UT; many places have a special UT rate.

Express bus from the airport to UT. It lets you off several blocks east of Guadalupe, at 21st and San Jacinto.
