What's new at AILLA

December 15, 2003: List of additions. In 2003, we added new materials in Emberá, Gnobére, Iquito, Jarawara, Kuikuro, Kuna, Quichua Napo, Ona, Tepehua de Huehuetla, Warao, Waunan, y Zoque de Oaxaca. Check it out!

November 15, 2003: A new umbrella organization has been launched for archives of endangered languages: DELAMAN, the Digital Endangered Languages and Musics Archive Network. DELAMAN's mission is to create a community of language archives to share technology, methods, policies, and ideas, so that we can build more and better archives and thus better serve endangered language communities around the world.

September 1, 2003: We are happy to welcome Ben Hansen to the AILLA team. Ben will be working with Lynda de Jong in digitizing and archiving new materials as they arrive. Welcome aboard, Ben!

August 31, 2003: We sadly say goodby to two colleagues who have been part of AILLA's staff since the beginning, Ajb'ee Jiménez and Will Fairchild. Ajb'ee is going to Guatemala to undertake investigations for his doctoral thesis; Will has finished his M.A. in Anthropology and is going to seek his fortune in South Carolina. To both of them, we wish the best of all possible luck in all their endeavors!

March 11, 2003: AILLA is awarded a second round of funding from our generous sponsors at the National Endowment for the Humanities.

January 31, 2003: AILLA launches its new web site, which interfaces to the new permanent database.

AILLA is a joint project of the Departments of Anthropology and Linguistics, and the Digital Library Services Division of the General Libraries at the University of Texas at Austin.
