DescriptionThis resource contains comparative material on the Zapotecan language family.

Dr. Kaufman began working on the topic of Comparative Oto-Manguean (OM) in 1983. The origins of these compiled data were a graduate seminar called "Linguistic Reconstruction" in which Dr. Kaufman farmed out the different OM languages on his graduate students to work on. These data represent a survey of claims that others made about OM and a summary of what Dr. Kaufman thought was correct. The sources were all books or monographs made from theses and/or the microfilms of theses, all of which came out of the University of Pennsylvania. All of these theses were written by SIL linguists who were supervised by Henry Hoenigswald. These data were never typed up. In the summer of 2010, Dr. Kaufman ran a week-long workshop on OM as part of the Project for the Documentation of the Languages of MesoAmerica (PDLMA). These materials are organized in AILLA by language family. Each of the following resources contains comparative materials on the language family named in the title.
