DescriptionThis collection includes all materials that were the direct result of the NSF grant "Archiving the Terrence Kaufman Collection", including the grant proposal, requests for supplemental funds and no-cost extensions, conference papers and posters about the collection and its history, and photos of some of the acquisition and curation processes.

Kaufman Collection acquisition trip photos
This is a collection of photographs taken during the first acquisition trip to Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, to collect Terrence Kaufman's materials. This trip was led by Susan Kung of AILLA, and the processing team included Gabriela Pérez Báez, Curator, Smithsonian Institution, and Lorraine Wang, processing archivist, Smithsonian Institution. Most of the photos were taken by Gabriela Pérez Báez, and some were taken by Susan Kung. This event was made possible thanks to support from the Archive of the Indigenous Languages of Latin American and from the National Science Foundation under Grant No. BCS-1157867. The Relevance of Language Documentation to the Field of Linguistics: Case Studies Based on the Terrence Kaufman Collection
This collection contains presentations, posters, and photos from a special organized session at the 2017 annual meeting of the Society for the Study of the Indigenous Languages of the Americas (SSILA) that was held in Austin, TX. The full name of the session was The Relevance of Language Documentation to the Field of Linguistics: Case Studies Based on the Terrence Kaufman Collection at the Archives of the Indigenous Languages of Latin America. The session organizers were Susan Smythe Kung of AILLA and Gabriela Pérez Báez of the Smithsonian Institute.
